Ironmongery
"Specifying EDSI allows complete flexibility in relation to door sets and ironmongery with specifiers not being limited to a small number of sets restricting design applications. Whether it be non standard sizes, acoustic doors, book matched veneering or over panels EDSI provides the total solution.”
Ironmongery
Being aware of market trends and customers needs European Door Sets were keen to become one of the first door set manufacturers in the UK to supply Doorsets complete and EDSI was officially formed.
European Door Sets Ironmongery was set up to assist suppliers and contractors with simple, single source procurement for all types of timber door sets and relevant ironmongery. This not only speeds up the procurement process, it also provides savings in terms of time and cost. Straightforward lines of communication generate a smooth passage from initial enquiry right through to delivery of goods and after sales care. Specifiers and contractors are aware of the problems / implications of two suppliers for essentially what can be one item a doorset.
The supply and factory fitting of ironmongery by EDSI offers numerous advantages including
• Complete scheduling service
• Easy procurement process
• Sourced from a single supplier
• Cost effective
• Minimal site work
• Reduced site costs
• Servicing carried out by C.N.C. machines for accurate installation
• Improved appearance
• BWF Certifire approved
• Combined site deliveries
On site savings are consistently reduced through time and labour costs, due to doorsets arriving as complete sets. Upon arriving at site the individual sets which are numbered for identification are ready for installation. Complete with the doorset is the individually boxed and labelled ironmongery which requires site fixing of handles, closers / floor springs etc.
Our scheduling service combines the doorsets and ironmongery together eliminating compatibility errors between the door and ironmongery supplier with EDSI becoming the sole point of contact for the whole process.
Having built up relationships with many of the major suppliers EDSI is able to offer a wide range of ironmongery to suit all applications. All of the sets supplied are fully certified and not only compliant for fire certification but are also;
• CE marked
• designed around Part M of the Building regulations
• DDA (Disability Discrimination Act) approved.
• Fully compliant with HTM58 & HTM59
Due to sourcing large quantities of ironmongery direct we are able to procure materials from the manufacturer rather than a third party. As mentioned in previous sections, all door related components are manufactured in house at our modern state of the art manufacturing plant located in Ormskirk, Lancashire. Specifying EDSI allows complete flexibility in relation to doorsets and ironmongery with specifiers not being limited to a small number of sets restricting design implications.
Whether it be non standard sizes, acoustic doors, book matched veneering or over panels EDSI provides the total solution.
In line with the government’s targets for reducing contamination in Healthcare environments all of our products can be supplied with an Anti Bacterial coating to assist in minimising contamination at no extra cost.
Doorset deliveries are often made by supplying the frame first, for first fix joinery installation, with the door and ironmongery following later. Once the door arrives on site the ironmongery arrives individually packaged for each doorset for quick and easy installation.
Protection
To reduce the risk of damage to doors when installed, we are able to offer the inclusion of inset Acrovyn protection plates (to see an example click here) which can be used to protect vulnerable areas of the doors.
We also offer fully Acrovyn encapsulated doors which are ideal for use in corridor areas which are subject to extremely high levels of use.
Vision panels, hinge and lock cut outs are all programmed using the latest sophisticated computerised technology on industry specific machinery.
X Ray Protection
The risks of radiation are well known, and whilst the occasional X Ray presents little risk, the cumulative effect to staff can be considerable.
Walls and ceilings can easily be clad with protective linings, yet it will be the entrance to a room that presents the greatest hazard.
Our lead lined doors provide continuous 2.24mm lead protection to the door, frame and to the back of architraves. X Ray resistant glass can be used to allow vision panels to be incorporated into doors.
Glazing
Flush glazing beads can be offered in lieu of bolection beads to minimise the risk of damage to the bead, again this is useful in corridor applications where there is a risk of items catching or snagging.
We also offer Vistamatic panels which are frequently requested in hospitals, providing a balance of supervision and privacy.
The option of unwired glass, even in fire rated doors, is a popular choice as this can make doors more inviting.
Laminate faced doors
The use of plastic laminate allows for doors to be easily cleaned, ideal for use in areas where a high level of hygiene is required. This type of door facing is also resistant to minor impact damage, and also will never need re-decoration. Use of differing colours can help to brighten areas, particularly in children’s wards and are a popular choice with the DDA (Disability Discrimination Act). Appearance
Owing to the wide variety of finishes available, there is no reason why hospital doors have to be dull and functional. Architects and specifiers now realise the benefits of bright, attractive surroundings which can help to improve the appearance of what can be unpleasant places to visit.
In addition, the benefit of low maintenance products increases the lifespan and reduces costs over the long term.
