Total Contract Value// £24 Million

Introduction
The mental health service in Guernsey was originally delivered from a number of different locations throughout the island; however as services changed a certain degree of flexibility was required to meet demand. The new Oberlands centre, situated alongside the Princess Elizabeth Hospital, would relocate all mental health services on the island under one roof with improved residential and outpatient facilities to benefit new and existing patients.

The new centre includes two wards; a ten bed adult ward and a 16 bed acute ward. The bedroom wings are divided by a service core allowing the separation of male and females, which can be further subdivided to allow for additional flexibility when required.

EDSI
Among the suppliers to the project was European Doorsets (edsi), who were responsible for the complete doorset and ironmongery package. Established in 1990, European Doorsets is a privately owned company specialising in the bespoke manufacture of fully certified performance timber doorsets to both the commercial and public sectors within the UK Construction Industry.

Based in the North West of England, all doorsets are manufactured in-house using the latest state-of-the-art CNC machinery providing European Doorsets with total control and allowing a complete package to be tailored to individual needs.
The majority of the doorsets were specified as anti-ligature with an anti-barricade system and full length hinges. Edsi were supply only on the Princes Elizabeth Hospital project, although all doorsets were supplied fully serviced with ironmongery fitted. The extensive package from EDSI included in excess of 300+ doorsets, supplied with a variety of finishes including PVC post-formed sets.

“EDSI were engaged by HVC to supply specialist doorsets and ironmongery on our £24M flagship Mental Health and Wellbeing Centre Project in Guernsey. The order comprised in excess of 300+ Doors of varying sizes, performance and speciality, which were equipped with cutting edge anti-ligature technology.

“EDSI’s team were responsive and professional in all aspects ranging from sales/ tender stage, scheduling, production through to delivery. We would not hesitate in recommending them for the manufacture and supply of bespoke doorsets.”
