Two Hospitals Caribbean

We were pleased to be awarded the contracts for supply of doorsets and ironmongery to two new hospitals to the Caribbean Islands of Turks and Caicos. Serving the populations of a number of small islands the hospitals will be valuable additions to local healthcare provision.

Both hospitals had a similar specification, namely laminate faced Severe Duty rated doors with hardwood frames. Use of laminate facings ensures maximum durability with little maintenance. Doors were supplied with fully finished edges and glazing beads, so only routine cleaning and re-decoration of frames should be required.

Working closely with the Mexican subcontractor and Caribbean Main Contractor we were able to identify and resolve all design issues quickly to ensure that maximum usage of containerised transport was possible.

Approximately 1100 doorsets where manufactured the majority of the doorsets were uniformed sizes however there was a small number of larger openings where overpanels were incorporated to allow installation at a later date of MRI scanners.

We worked closely with the UK architect to agree ironmongery schedules and specifications; inspections were made of similar projects we have carried out in the UK to the satisfaction of the Design Team. Ironmongery supply was coordinated with the door manufacture to ensure that the phased deliveries of doorsets and ironmongery were delivered together.

We also took the decision to supply a number of spare components to assist on site should any damage occur during installation, or to allow any extra items to be fabricated on site.
