New Theatre Royal, Portsmouth

European Doorsets are delighted to have recently secured the internal doorset package to the New Theatre Royal redevelopment in Portsmouth.

The redevelopment of the existing Grade II listed building sees the construction of a brand new 4-storey fly tower at the back of the theatre which will feature a double-height studio theatre and television studio with its own control rooms. The project also sees an extension to the existing building to provide back-of-house facilities including teaching space, music rooms and office space.

The redevelopment will enable the theatre to create its own productions in-house and will be utilised by film & drama students at the University of Portsmouth in which it is a joint venture between.

The redevelopment is due for completion Autumn 2014.

National Theatre Royal, Portsmouth

Tate Britain Gallery, Millbank London

Project Value: £45m

Tate Britain based in Millbank has recently undergone a £45m restoration project in which European Doorsets were proudly selected to supply all internal doorsets for the project.

The two-year project saw the extensive refurbishment of the original 19th Century galleries which were rejuvenated to create a fresher and welcoming atmosphere. Space has also been remodeled in the building to accommodate a café, restaurant, archive gallery and learning studios.

The project saw a requirement for high specification doorsets which included book-matched fumed oak veneer faced doors with oak edges and frames. There was also a requirement for a number of curved head doorsets to be supplied in horizontal/vertical stiled fumed oak veneer with inlays to suit existing wall openings. Along with doorsets, veneered wall paneling was also supplied to match the fumed oak veneer to the doorsets. Over 200nr doorsets and 230nr wall panels were supplied to the project in total.

The renovated Tate Britain re-opened its doors to the public in November 2013.



Birmingham New Street Railway Station

European Doorsets were delighted to secure the internal doorset package required at Birmingham New Street Station Gateway Project. The overall project is part of an extensive redevelopment, which due to the increased volume of traffic and need for refurbishment, is being transformed to offer a world class transport system and shopping facilities.

The redevelopment includes the refurbishment of the existing Railway Station Concourse Area, refurbishment of the existing former Pallasades Shopping Centre (renamed Birmingham Grand Central) and the construction of a brand new Flagship Store for John Lewis which will be the largest John Lewis store outside of Central London.

A combined total of approximately 400nr doorsets will be supplied to the project comprising of paint-grade, laminate, acrovyn post-formed, and veneer faced doorsets, all manufactured from our Fortis range. Doorsets are to be supplied complete with architraves and the supply and factory fitting of hinges. A number of FD120 doorsets will also be supplied manufactured from our Ignis range of doorsets. Our Ignis range of doorsets is our high performance fire doorsets which are constructed using specialist materials.

The project is due for overall completion in 2015.



Telford Community Hub & Multi-Storey Car Park

Project Value: £12m

Telford Community Hub is a brand new building aimed at providing local facilities including a library, the council’s new ‘First Point’ with offices & Contact Centre, a cafe and a restaurant.

European Doorsets were successful in securing the internal doorset package for this project along with the construction of a six-storey car park in the town centre by main contractors Morgan Sindall.

Over 150nr paint-grade and laminate faced doors with primed frames were supplied in total along with side-screens, fanlights, glass, architraves and hinges.

The project is part of a £250m regeneration scheme for the town centre with this part of the development due for completion early 2014.


Dominion Arts Centre, Ealing

Main Contractor: Mansell
Year: 2013

Dominion Arts Centre in Ealing saw the extension and refurbishment to the existing centre in order to accommodate a library, cafe and community centre. The new centre will provide increased community facilities and extra space for local groups.

European Doorsets worked closely with Mansell to supply in total over 50nr paintgrade doors with primed frames and laminate faced doors supplied with maple frames. Side-screens, glass and architraves were also supplied as a complete package.
