BWF President Roy Wakeman OBE has recently joined European Doorsets as Chairman.
Wakeman is a leading figure in the joinery industry and will bring a wealth of experience to EDS. He was responsible for building the Leaderflush + Shapland Group with sales of over £40m before selling it to SIG plc.
Wakeman is currently Executive Chairman of The Performance Timber Products Group (PTPG), which claims the leading brands in the timber windows and doors sector, which includes Mumford & Wood, Timber Windows and Dale Windows. He has served an unprecedented three terms as President of the British Woodworking Federation (BWF).
Paul Bailey, Managing Director, EDS, and Honorary Treasurer at the BWF, has known Roy for over 10 years and says: “We are delighted to welcome Roy to our business and to help us take it to the next logical level in our five year strategic plan. He will help us to apply his vast experience to the plans that we have for both our people and our operations. Clearly there are significant opportunities to grow our business both organically and through further market consolidation.”
Neil Bailey, Sales Director, EDS, added: “I am looking forward to working closely with Roy and opening up exciting new opportunities. There is large demand in the door set market for a high quality product and service and as one of an ever reducing number of UK based door set manufacturers, that produces everything in house, we believe we offer the perfect business model.”
Roy Wakeman comments: “I am really excited to have the opportunity of helping Paul, Neil and their colleagues at EDS to continue with their very successful growth story. Their management record is exemplary and I am looking forward to helping them to become the first choice as the national supplier when it comes to the procurement of timber performance door sets.”
Established in 1990, EDS has become one of the UK’s leading suppliers. The company has built an enviable and significant share of the UK market for performance timber door sets. EDS trades from its impressive manufacturing and administration centre in Ormskirk, Lancashire.
More recently, production capacity has been increased on the back of a continuous and improved level of sales for its market leading products. Planned investment of £300K has been made in significant plant and machinery whilst the established sales team of industry experienced personnel has also been added to in order to complement and match the expected demand.
